Lissette: So far this trip has been an experience of a life time. My first day in the village was amazing I met the most adorable children in the world. As soon as we arrived they gathered around us as if we were superstars and to me they were the superstars. They even gave us all nicknames I was Eminem, Maria was shakira, Earl was 50 cent, and Tiffany was the Rwandan. Everyone was so welcoming and excited to be with us that it gave me no choice but to love them. Everything around us is different but the people are very much like us. Gilbert, Jenhine two of the many I met here and I even had a dance off. Even though there was no music it was awesome, just feeding off there energy alone was enough. Taking a look at things in their perspective I could tell they thought we were so cool. Lots of the children were in love with my hat, good thing i brought some with me that i could give to them. When they see the hats there going to be so greatfull.
If theres one thing I learned here its that everyone is greatful. Even for something as simple as visiting there village. The older women welcomes us into there homes and thanks us for being there and never asks for anything more then to encourage people to never forget about the things they have been through. What I find the most interesting is that even though they have been through such a horrible atrocity none of them seem bitter or angry, everyone walks around with a big smile and a positive mind state. I truly admire this about all the people in the village. They have respectfully earned a place in my heart and I hope they feel the same. Lemway= one in Kinyarwandan .......Till next time
